Out of 71 such discoms, Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. (Adani Electricity) has emerged as India's top energy distribution firm. According to a recent rating study, Adani Electricty Mumbai Ltd. has become not only India's top electricity distribution firm (Discom), but also Mumbai's. According to a press statement from the Adani Group, Adani Electicity was ranked first out of the 71 discoms in the nation for its overall governance, which includes financial sustainability, performance excellence, and external environment. According to the research, which was put together by McKinsey and Company, the accounts of power distribution businesses for three fiscal years-2019-2020 through 2022-2023-were evaluated.
Adani Electricity not only won the competition after a thorough review process, but it was also the only private utility to be ranked among the top five. Moreover, Adani Electricity is one of just 15 distribution companies with perfect ratings. The utility announced earlier this month that it has increased rates the least among Maharashtra's discoms for the time period examined under the process for multi-year tariffs that benefits consumers.
All of the discoms were evaluated based on their exceptional governance, which took into account their financial stability, performance excellence, and external environment, the company said in a statement. The only private utility to reach the top five on the list was Adani Electricity. In Maharashtra, the distribution firms (discoms) recently revealed their period under review for the Multi-Year Tariff mechanism, and the company announced the lowest pricing increase of all of them.

We have been recognised by the Power Finance Corporation and the Ministry of Electricity as one of Mumbai's and India's most competitive power suppliers as a consequence of our efforts. This independent acknowledgement is a testament to our dedication to provide our consumers with dependable, reasonably priced, and environmentally friendly electricity, Patel continued.
The Power Finance Corporation, the nodal agency, conducts the yearly integrated rating and ranking study. Following the Ministry of Power's 2012 approval of the framework, it went into effect. The thorough assessment covers a total of 71 power distribution utilities, including 12 power departments, 14 private discoms, and 45 state distribution firms (discoms) throughout India. The majority of Adani Group companies were bought by Indian retail investors, it was discovered earlier in the day, despite the scathing research by short-seller Hindenburg Research having reduced the market capitalization of the Adani Group by more than $100 billion.
