The West Bengal government's new Annapurna Yojana has officially gone live from today, 2026, offering eligible women monthly financial assistance of Rs. 3,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The scheme is replacing the popular Lakshmir Bhandar scheme which was launched by the TMC and provided financial support to women across the state.

With applications now open, thousands of beneficiaries can find out details about the Annapurna Yojana application process, eligibility criteria, required documents, and how existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries will be affected.
What Is Annapurna Yojana?
Annapurna Yojana is a financial assistance scheme launched by the West Bengal government to support women from eligible households. Under the scheme, qualified beneficiaries will receive Rs. 3,000 every month directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The scheme officially came into effect on June 1, 2026, and is being administered through the state's social security portal.
Who Is Eligible for Annapurna Yojana?
Women applying for the scheme must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be a resident of West Bengal
- Must be between 25 and 60 years of age
- Must have a valid Aadhaar card
- Must possess an Aadhaar-linked bank account for receiving DBT payments
Applicants who do not have an Aadhaar-linked bank account may face delays or may not receive benefits until the account is properly linked.
How to Apply for Annapurna Yojana Online
Women who wish to apply online for Annapurna Yojana can follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Go to the West Bengal Social Security Portal at: West Bengal Social Security Portal
Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar number, complete the captcha verification, and click on "Next."
Step 3: Provide your registered mobile number or email address and enter the OTP received.
Step 4: After logging in, click on "Apply for Services" and then choose "Application for Annapurna Bhandar."
Step 5: Enter your ration card number, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and other requested details.
Step 6: Applicants may need to upload
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter ID Card
- Ration Card
- Income Certificate
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photograph
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque
Step 7: Enter your Aadhaar-linked bank account details carefully and submit the application. Applicants should save the application reference number for future tracking.
What Happens to Lakshmir Bhandar Beneficiaries?
Women who are already receiving benefits under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme do not need to submit a fresh application. According to reports, existing beneficiaries will be automatically migrated to the new Annapurna Yojana system. However, new applicants who were not enrolled under Lakshmir Bhandar must complete the application process to receive benefits.
Can You Apply Offline?
Yes. Apart from the online process, eligible women can also apply through designated government offices. Offline applications can be submitted at Block Development Offices, Municipal Offices, Designated Service Centres across West Bengal
How to Check Annapurna Yojana Application Status
Applicants can track the status of their application through the official portal using the application reference number generated during registration. Keeping the reference number safe is important, as it will be required to check approval and payment status.
