Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Card For Seniors Over 70; Check Hospital List & Registration Details Here

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana card earlier this month, specifically targeting senior citizens aged 70 and above. This extension of the already successful Ayushman Bharat-PM-JAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) scheme is expected to provide an additional financial cushion of up to Rs 5 lakh annually, ensuring that economically weaker seniors receive the necessary healthcare services without the added burden of medical costs. However this scheme is available to all senior citizens above the Age 70 regardless of their financial status.

Empanelled Hospitals Offering Services Under the Scheme

In one of its recent updates, the National Health Authority (NHA) has released a state-wise list of hospitals that are entitled to provide services to senior citizens under this scheme. These hospitals include both public and private institutions that have been empaneled under the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY network. The list of hospitals spans across various states, ensuring that elderly individuals, regardless of their location, have access to quality healthcare. A wide range of medical institutions are part of the scheme including the district hospitals and the private super-specialty centers, which offer a variety of treatments covered under the additional coverage.

Additional Coverage For Senior Citizens

The Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana is a vital extension to the Ayushman Bharat-PM-JAY health assurance program, which already covers economically disadvantaged families. However, seniors aged 70 and above, who may not be able to afford health insurance premiums due to pre-existing health conditions, will now receive Rs 5 lakh in additional coverage every year.

The new benefits under this scheme are designed to address the unique healthcare needs of senior citizens, many of whom face challenges in accessing affordable medical treatments, especially with age-related health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases etc.

How to Register:

The application process is quite simple as users can go to the official website at nha.gov.in/PM-JAY and choose the "PMJAY For 70+" tab registering either as the senior citizen themselves or as a family member helping them. However to make it even easier for senior citizens to benefit from this scheme, the National Health Authority (NHA) has implemented an online registration system. Seniors can register for the scheme through the beneficiary portal (beneficiary.nha.gov.in) or the NHA's official Ayushman app. Alternatively, registration can also be completed in person at PM-JAY-empanelled hospitals or common services centers across the country. The registration method is seamless, ensuring that even those without internet access or digital literacy can easily enroll in the program and receive the benefits. After registration, seniors will receive their Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana card, which will be used to access healthcare services at any empanelled hospital.
