Indian banking customers will experience a variety of bank holidays in March, which will differ from state to state. From the first day of March 2022, Indian banks will be closed for the Mahashivratri festival. Maha Shivaratri is an annual Hindu ritual dedicated to the deity Shiva. Every year at Chaturdashi Tithi, the event takes place in February or March and it occurs during Krishna Paksha in the month of Magha, according to Drik Panchang. Bank holidays in India are divided into three categories: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks' Closing of Accounts pursuant to the holiday calendar of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Mahashivratri (Maha Vad-14) will fall on March 1, 2022, and banks across the country will be closed as part of the Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act.
As a result, on March 1, 2022, banks in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram would be closed owing to Mahashivratri.
