BHIM UPI: When Your BHIM UPI Transaction Gets Declined?

Bharat Interface for Money, popularly known as BHIM, is a UPI based payment interface that permits real time fund transfers using a single identity like your mobile number or name. With BHIM UPI, you will be able to transfer and receive money from any person using UPI. You can also pay bills on merchant websites with UPI.

It allows you to scan a QR code to make instant payments. If you are planning to book flight tickets or recharge your mobile, you can do it with BHIM UPI. You may also check your transaction history on UPI. It lets you send money to account and IFSC code.

When your BHIM UPI transaction gets declined? There may be several reasons due to which your transaction gets declined. Below are some:

  • The bank servers may be temporarily down. You need to wait for some time, when you encounter such scenario before proceeding with the transaction.
  • It may be a suspected case of a fake transaction
  • You may have entered the incorrect UPI PIN
  • The beneficiary details that you have filled might be wrong
  • Your mobile number may be linked to several types of accounts in the same bank
  • In case you have changed your mobile number linked to your bank account, it might be possible that the bank has yet to update your latest number. Due to this situation, your transaction might get declined. In such situation, you need to get in touch with your respective bank
  • The transaction that you seek to complete may be in violation of your respective bank's policy. You need to get in touch with your bank, when such situation occurs.

Where and how can you pay using BHIM? You can make payments to your friends and loved ones directly through UPI ID. If you are shopping online, you just need to click on the "Pay by UPI/BHIM" option. You may also scan UPI QR/BHIM OQ code at merchant outlets for making swift payments. You can also scan UPI QR/BHIM QR at merchants outlets.

In how many languages BHIM is currently available? Currently, it is available in a total of 20 languages.

It is worth noting that you can use BHIM out of India for sending and collecting money for your local account. It is worth mentioning that NRI/NRE accounts can only be used according to banks policy.

How many VPAs you may add to BHIM? It lets users use 2 VPAs. The first one will be default VPA i.e. mobile number@upi. You may create the second VPA simply by going to "My Profile" section.

Limit of money that you may send using BHIM: One person will be able to send up to Rs 100,000 per transaction and the maximum amount per day remains Rs 100,000 for one bank account. The limit remains available per bank account linked to BHIM.
