Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Budget for the next fiscal "will focus on amrit kaal" in the last union budget speech . Today, during the presentation of Budget 2023-24, FM said, "This Budget lays a futuristic 'amrit kaal' for women, youth, and marginalised communities, large public investment for infrastructure guided by PM Gati Shakti, productivity enhancement, energy transition and climate action, and investment financing."

 

The Prime Minister referred to the next 25 years as 'Amrit Kaal,' saying, "We are celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. During 'Amrit Kaal, emphasis will be on achieving the resolutions made for Aatmanirbhar Bharat over the next 25 years. Today, we are working to strengthen 'good governance,' also known as 'pro-people pro-active governance.'

The objective of "amrit kaal" is to improve the lives of citizens, bridge the development gap between villages and cities, and reduce government interference in public life. It also entails developing or acquiring cutting-edge technology for the country. Minimal government and maximum governance, reduction of overlapping compliances, and reduction of overlapping compliances will all increase compliance, which is critical for the ease of doing business in India.

While India has made rapid progress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there should be a saturation of development and 100% achievement, with every village having roads, every family having a bank account, and every eligible person having health insurance, a card, and a gas connection.

He characterised this time as a "culmination of hard work, sacrifice, and austerity," claiming that it will take 25 years to restore what our society has lost due to hundreds of years of slavery.
