As an Indian citizen, you can take advantage of the Aadhaar Card's various features and benefits. One such advantage is the Aadhaar e-sign. It allows you to sign digital documents virtually. The Aadhaar e-signature is cryptographically designed to prevent fraud and has the same value as a handwritten signature.
What is e- Aadhaar?
e-Aadhaar is a password-protected electronic copy of Aadhaar that has been digitally signed by the UIDAI's competent authority and can be downloaded from the UIDAI's official website or mobile application.
Benefits of e-Aadhaar Card
- The E-Aadhaar card is an electronic card that is accessible online at all times, and individuals do not have to worry about losing their card because it is virtual and cannot be misplaced.
- E-Aadhaar is a universal identity card that can be obtained by all Indian citizens. Unlike most other documents, this card serves as both a proof of identity and an address.
- The Government of India has provided a variety of subsidies to all individuals, including LPG subsidies. To be eligible for these subsidies, applicants must present their Aadhaar card.
- Individuals can also use their Aadhaar card to open bank accounts.
- According to the Unique Identification Authority of India, an e-Aadhaar card is a valid proof of address and identity because it has been digitally certified. Furthermore, all data printed on a physical copy of the Aadhaar card is also available on the e-Aadhaar card.
How to Validate digital signature in E-Aadhaar Card?
- Download your E-Aadhaar and only use Adobe Reader to open the pdf.
- Right-click on the 'unknown validity' icon and select 'Validate Signature.'
- When the signature validation status window appears, click on 'Signature Properties.'
- Click the 'Show Signer's Certificate' button.
- Check for a certification with the name '(n)Code Solutions CA 2014'.
- Click 'Export' on the Summary page (tab).
- To save the certificate in your local system (Desktop/Laptop), click 'Next.'
- Then click 'Next' and then 'Finish.'
- Click the 'Trust' tab, then the 'Add to trusted certificate' button. Then, under 'Certified documents,' select all three options and click 'Ok.'
- Close the window by clicking 'Validate Signature' once more.
- When you open any subsequent CCA documents with digital signatures, they will be validated automatically.
- If the certificate validity is found to be expired on the machine, you must download the E-Aadhaar again and re-validate the signature using the procedure outlined above, and then add the newly downloaded certificate to the 'Trusted Certificate' category on the local machine to add a valid/current digital certificate.
- The invalid digital signature on the downloaded e-Aadhaar can also be validated on a machine other than the one from which it was downloaded, i.e. a laptop or a desktop computer. However, in order for this document to be validated, the digital certificate must be downloaded and validated on the alternate machine using the procedure outlined above.
