ESIC Payment- What is ESIC Scheme and How to Make Payment Online?

Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) members can pay their challans online and the ESI Scheme aims to provide convenient services to both employers and employees through its information and services portals. All compliance and payments are handled via the internet as part of this effort. Employers can use the portal to make monthly contributions. Online payment is currently available to SBI account holders who have access to net banking.

What is the ESI Scheme?

Employees' State Insurance Scheme of India is a multi-faceted Social Security Scheme designed to provide socioeconomic protection to 'employees' in the organised sector against the events such as sickness, maternity, disability, and death due to workplace injury.

How does the scheme help the employees?

The scheme provides full medical care to employees registered under the ESI Act of 1948 during their incapacity, as well as restoration of their health and working capacity. It provides financial assistance to compensate for the loss of wages during his/her absence from work due to sickness, maternity, or workplace injury. The scheme also covers his or her family members' medical expenses.

Features of ESIC Online Payment

  • ESIC online payment is required for both employees and employers.
  • Indian citizens will not have to go to a government centre to pay their challan. Instead, they can do it from the comfort of their own home by going online.
  • Employer contributions are 4.75% of employee wages, while employee contributions are 1.75% of employee wages.
  • ESIC online payment is available to SBI account holders who have a net banking facility.
  • This will save a significant amount of time and effort while also improving system transparency.

Monthly contribution filing

  • The "Online Monthly Contribution Screen" allows users to submit their monthly contributions.
  • The "preview" page will be displayed after submission.
  • To submit the details of your monthly contribution to ESIC, click the "Submit" button (refer screen shot)
  • The user can manually enter the contribution for each employee or bulk upload an excel file as an attachment. This is very user-friendly for large amounts of data.
  • After submitting the form, users can pay online using SBI net banking by clicking on Pay online.
  • Click "OK" to continue with the online payment.
  • Please keep the Challan number for future reference. Clicking on Continue to Pay will take you to the SBI online payment page.
  • When you proceed with the payment, it will take you to the banking site where you can make an online payment using net banking. The user must first provide their net banking credentials before they can pay the amount.
  • After clicking the confirm button, the success page will be displayed on the screen below.

How to Register to ESIC Portal

  • Navigate to ESIC's official website.
  • Click on 'Employer Sign-up' option on the homepage
  • Enter your basic information and click 'Submit.'
  • You will be added to the ESIC portal.

How to Login to ESIC Portal?

  • Navigate to the official ESIC Login website.
  • Select the 'Employer Sign-up' option.
  • Fill in your user ID and password.
  • Then press the 'Submit' button.

How to Make ESIC Payment Online?

  • Visit ESIC's official website at www.esic.in.
  • Enter your login information
  • After logging in, you will be redirected to a new web page with a list of all the modules and hyperlinks.
  • Click on the Challan Number for the period you want to pay for online.
  • Keep the challan number for future reference and click 'Continue'.
  • Under 'Net Banking,' select 'State Bank of India'. If you have another bank account through which you want to make the payment, select 'Other Banks' from the list of payment options.
  • To access the bank's net banking portal, enter your login information.
  • Examine the amount and the recipient's information. If everything checks out, you can proceed with the payment. When the payment is complete, keep the receipt for future reference.

How to generate an online Challan

Step 1: From the module list, select the 'Generate Challan' link.

Step 2: You will be taken to the next page, where you must select the 'View' option.

Step 3: Choose the record to which the payment is to be made and enter the amount to be paid.

Step 4: Select the 'Online Option' and then the 'Submit' button.

Step 5: The message of request submission will be displayed. Select the 'OK' button.
