Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) provides all the services related to the Provident Fund (PF) account of its employees through the Universal Account Number (UAN) portal. You only need your UAN number and password to use any services or facilities offered by the organisation on the portal.
For PF account, UAN is necessary. Along with the UAN number, a password must be set in order to access the PF account. You only need your UAN number and password to use any services or facilities provided by the portal. You can check the status of your PF account using this password and UAN. You can control your finances and carry out numerous significant tasks, like a nomination, etc.
Through the UAN portal, EPFO offers all services pertaining to the PF accounts of its employees. You can link all of your PF accounts with a single UAN number. On changing jobs, the UAN number does not need to be changed.
There are occasions when you know your UAN number but forget the password since the PF account opened occasionally in need. If you forget the password, you won't be able to access your PF account or see the information in your passbook. However, EPFO allows PF account holders to generate a new password in case the password is forgotten by the account holder.
How to Reset/Generate UAN Password
Step 1: Visit EPFO portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in./memberinterface/
Step 2: Click on Forgot Password at the bottom of the UAN, Password and CAPTCHA box.
Step 3: In the new page, enter your UAN number in the space provided for the same.
Step 4: Enter the captcha code below it in the Enter Captcha box.
Step 5: Now, click on the submit button.
Step 6: Your UAN number will appear at the top of the next page.
How To Change Existing UAN Password
Step 1: Log in to the UAN portal using the UAN ID & Password at EPFO Portal
Step 2: Click on 'Account Settings.
Step 3: Enter the old password in the specified field and enter a new password.
Step 4: Click on 'Update'.
Step 5: Now, click on the 'OK' tab to confirm.
Step 6: You will receive a message with a password change confirmation.
Your PF account's new password process will be completed once you complete this. Password Changed Successfully message will also show up on PC or mobile device. Along with the notification, a login link is displayed. By clicking on it, you may also see if you can log in with your new password.
