Here’s How SBI Customers Can Change Their Registered Mobile Number Online

An SBI account holder now does not need to visit a bank branch to adjust or modify his or her details with a new mobile number. If you have access to SBI online or internet banking, you can update your SBI mobile number online from the comfort of your home. You'll need your ATM/debit card and your registered mobile number to update your mobile number online. The SBI has three ways for customers to update their mobile numbers. Follow the below-listed ways to update your registered mobile number in SBI online.

A Retail Internet Banking customer (Resident customer) with an active ATM or Debit card whose account is linked to his or her internet banking username can change his or her mobile number online without visiting a branch by following the steps outlined below.

  • Sign in to OnlineSBI (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm) and head to the 'Profile' section.
  • Now click on 'Personal Details' and enter your profile password.
  • Now display name, Email ID, and mobile number will be displayed if they are registered in internet banking.
  • Now click on 'Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre)' and a new page 'Personal Details-Mobile Number Update' with three options 'Create Request', 'Cancel Request' and 'Status' will appear.
  • Now enter your new mobile number and re-enter the same to confirm.
  • Click on 'Submit' and on the screen, a pop-up message 'Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx' will appear.

To continue, click 'Ok,' and a new screen will appear with the 3 different following ways for confirmation of a change of mobile number;

  1. By OTP on both the Mobile Number
  2. IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM
  3. Approval through Contact Centre

(A) By OTP on both the mobile number

If you have both the old and new mobile numbers, the mobile number change can be authorised online via OTP.

  • Select the radio button next to the alternative 'By OTP on Both Mobile Number' and then click on 'Proceed'.
  • Select the account for which you have the debit card by hitting the radio button.
  • Once you click 'Proceed,' you will be taken to the State Bank of India's ATM card Validation page.
  • Active and closed ATM cards linked with the chosen account will be displayed here. Choose the active ATM card and click on the 'Confirm' link.
  • The selected ATM card number will be displayed on the following screen. Now enter your card details and Captcha code as shown in the image.
  • Click the 'Proceed' button, and once your validation is successful, the INB system will send an OTP along with a reference number to both your old and new mobile numbers.
  • You must now send SMS to 567676 from BOTH (old and new) mobile numbers in the following format: ACTIVATE (8 digit OTP number) (13 digit reference number) within 4 hours.
  • The new mobile number you entered will be copied in INB, CBS, and ATM, upon effective validation of the OTP and reference number. A successful message in this respect will also be sent to your mobile number.
(B) IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM

  • Select the radio button next to the alternative 'IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM' and then hit the 'Proceed' icon.
  • Now, choose the account for which you have a debit card by hitting the radio button, and then click on 'Proceed'.
  • You will now be redirected to the State Bank of India's ATM card Validation screen, where you will see active and closed ATM cards linked with the selected account.
  • Choose the active ATM card and hit the 'Confirm' button.
  • The selected ATM card number will be shown on the next screen. Now enter your card details and the text as shown in the image.
  • Click the 'Proceed' button, and you will see the following message on the screen once the validation is successful: "Thanks for registering mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion."
  • The INB system will send you an SMS on your new mobile number containing "Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX".
  • Now go to any State Bank Group ATM and swipe your card, select the 'Services' option and enter your PIN.
  • On the ATM screen select the 'Others' tab and then select the 'Internet Banking Request Approval' option.
  • Now enter the 10-digit reference number for authorization of the request, and the request (change of mobile number) will be fulfilled once the procedure is completed successfully.
  • The new mobile number you entered will be changed in INB, CBS, and ATM after the OTP value and reference number are successfully validated. You will also receive a successful message on your mobile number in this regard.
(C) Approval through Contact Centre

  • Select the radio button next to 'Approval through Contact Centre' and then click on 'Proceed'.
  • Select the account for which you have a debit card by selecting the radio button, then click 'Proceed.'
  • Now you'll be taken to the State Bank of India's ATM card Validation page, where you'll see a list of active and closed ATM cards linked to the selected account.
  • Choose your active ATM card and press the 'Confirm' button.
  • The selected ATM card number will appear on the next screen; now enter your card details and the text as shown in the image.
  • Now click 'Proceed,' and you will see the following message on the screen once the validation is successful: "Thanks for registering mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion."
  • The INB system will send you an SMS on your new mobile number containing "Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX".
  • A representative from the bank's contact centre will call you on your new mobile number just over the next three working days. Before disclosing any confidential info, please ask for a reference number from the Contact Center representative.
  • Please do not disclose your reference number to anybody. On the phone, the Contact Center will check your identity by asking you for some information.
  • The new mobile number you entered will be copied in INB, CBS, and ATM after effective information authentication. On your current mobile number, you will receive a successful message in this regard.
View Status & Cancellation of Request

View Status & Cancellation of Request

Follow the steps below to check the status of your request for a mobile number change or update via internet banking:

  • Sign in to OnlineSBI (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm) and head to the 'Profile' section.
  • Now click on 'Personal Details' and display name, Email ID, and mobile number registered in internet banking will be displayed on the screen.
  • Now click on 'Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre)' and a new page 'Personal Details-Mobile Number Update' with three options 'Create Request', 'Cancel Request' and 'Status' will appear.
  • To check the current status (Pending/Successful) of your request to change your mobile number via internet banking, go to the 'Status' section.
  • In case you want to cancel the request, go to the 'Cancel Request' section and choose the request you want to cancel. On the screen, a message 'Your Reference Number UMxxxxxxxxxx is successfully cancelled' will appear in this regard.
