According to the UIDAI, you can lock or unlock your Aadhaar Card Biometrics. When you lock your Aadhaar biometric, you safeguard your Aadhaar number biometric. Doing this you cannot perform Authentication. However, you can perform your Authentication using the Virtual ID provided by the UIDAI on your Aadhaar Card.

Here's how you can lock and unlock your Aadhaar card:

Aadhaar Card Biometric Lock via UIDAI

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI portal at uidai.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the 'My Aadhaar' tab and under the 'Aadhaar services', click on 'Aadhaar lock and unlock'.
Step 3: Enter Aadhaar number or VID
Step 4: Enter Captcha and click on Send OTP
Step 5: Enter OTP received on your registered mobile number in the specified box
Step 6: Click the 'Enable' button after entering the four-digit security code displayed on the screen.
Your biometrics will be locked, and you will need to unlock them to use them again.


Aadhaar Card Biometric Unlock Via UIDAI via UIDAI

Step 1: Visit UIDAI portal at www.uidai.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the 'My Aadhaar' tab and under the 'Aadhaar services', click on 'Aadhaar lock/unlock'.
Step 3: Select 'Unlock UID' and enter the virtual ID and security code
Step 4: Click on 'Send OTP'. Enter the 'OTP and click on submit
Step 5: Your Aadhaar number will be unlocked.
