In the latest development, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that even babies can now be enrolled in Aadhaar. Biometric information like as fingerprints and iris scans are not included in a child's Aadhaar data. Once the child crosses the age of 5, biometrics need to be updated, UIDAI has said.

Several schools require the child's Aadhaar number throughout the admissions process. It is, therefore, better to apply for a unique ID. You should apply for your child's Aadhaar number straight away if you haven't already. Aadhaar may be applied for by anybody of any age, including newborns and children.

1) A copy of the child's birth certificate or a discharge slip from a government hospital.
2) One of the parents' Aadhaar card
Please note that parents with children under the age of five must accompany them to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for biometric authentication.

Children Below 5 Years of age

Children below the age of 5 are exempted from biometrics. As a result, biometric data like fingerprints and iris scans are not stored in the Aadhaar database for children. Biometrics must be updated when a child reaches the age of five.

Children Above 5 Years of age

When these below 5-year-old children reach the ages of 5 and 15, they will be required to add their biometrics, which includes ten fingers, an iris scan, and a photograph of their face. A remark to that effect will be included in the original Aadhaar letter.

Parents must approach the local enrollment center and complete the appropriate paperwork to register their kids for the Baal Aadhaar card.

 
 The paperwork must be accompanied by the child's birth certificate, one parent's Aadhaar card, a mobile number, and evidence of address.

Children under the age of five will not have their biometrics captured, however, children aged five and up must submit biometric data such as an iris scan and fingerprint scan.
 
 The parent will be given an acknowledgment slip at the end of the procedure, which must be retained for future reference.
 
 Within 60 days, UIDAI will send an SMS to the registered phone number, as well as deliver Baal Aadhaar.

Parents can also use the UIDAI's official website to find the nearest Aadhaar Card Enrollment Center. The government pays for the Aadhaar enrolment of children.

To Apply for Baal Aadhaar online, follow these below-mentioned steps:
 Step 1: Visit uidai.gov.in and register for a Baal Aadhaar Card online.
 Step 2: Click on the Aadhar Card registration page.
 Step 3: Fill in all of the required information, such as the child's name, parent's phone number, and e-mail address.
 Step 4: After entering all of the personal information, fill in all of the demographic information.
Step 5: To proceed, select the Fix Appointment tab. Set a date for registration for an Aadhar card right now.
 Step 6: Now, the applicant needs to proceed with the enrolling process by selecting the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center.
 Step 7: Visit the nearest Aadhaar Card Enrollment Center to complete further.
 Step 8: Submit the form along with a birth certificate and the Aadhaar card of the parent.
 Step 9: The parent's Aadhaar card information and mobile number must be provided.
 Step 10: Following the verification process, the child's photograph will be taken.
 Note - Children under the age of five will not have their biometrics taken.
 Step 11: If the child is five years old or older, a photograph and biometric data such as an iris scan and fingerprints will be taken.
