Indian Railways has announced that the discount plan for booking train tickets at railway counters using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI)/Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) has been extended for another year, until June 12, 2019.
From December 1, 2017, Indian Railways began accepting this method of ticket payment.
Note that this discount is only available to travellers who purchase tickets at counters rather than online.

For payments made through Unified Payment Interface (UPI) including Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) with a ticket value of Rs. 100 or more, Indian Railways has decided to offer a 5% discount on the total value of the basic fare in PRS reserved counter tickets, subject to a maximum discount of Rs. 50 per ticket.
How to avail IRCTC 5% Discount or Rs 50 Off?
Step 1: Visit PRS (passenger reserved system) reserved counter at a railway station.
Step 2: Book the ticket through any BHIM UPI App
Step 3: Collect request will be sent to customer linked to UPI BHIM application.
Step 4: Pay using any BHIM UPI app.
Things to know
The discount will be applied to tickets with a total value of Rs100 or more for the base rate.
The maximum discount on a ticket, however, shall not exceed Rs50.
Unreserved single journey tickets/season tickets, reserved tickets ordered online (e-ticket/I-ticket), and other tickets are not eligible for such reductions.
This discount is only valid at the reservation counter until the first reservation chart is prepared. There will be no such discount after the compilation of the first reservation chart.
