There are several ways to block an HDFC Credit Card. One can visit the bank's branch and block their card; block the card online using Net Banking or cancel the card by dialling the phone banking number (customer care).
Block the HDFC Credit Card by visiting Bank Branch
The credit card holder can hotlist a credit card by visiting the HDFC Bank branch and submit the form.
Step 1: First collect the application form from a branch or download the same by visiting the bank's official website.
Step 2: Duly fill in all the relevant details related to the credit card, personal information and so on.
Step 3: Now submit the filled form at the branch and get the credit card blocked.
Via Net Banking
The credit card holder can hotlist or block the credit card through Net Banking by following the below-given steps:
Step 1: First login to the Net Banking of HDFC Bank using the Net Banking ID and Password.
Step 2: Now click on the credit card tab and then on the Credit Card Hotlisting on the left-hand side of the page. A list of credit cards that are registered under the Net Banking will appear.
Step 3: Proceed further and click on the Credit Card number which you wish to block.
Step 4: Now select the reason for blocking the said credit card.
Step 5: Select, if you would like the credit card to be re-issued.
Via Phone Banking
By following the steps given below block your credit card through 24X7 Phone Banking numbers (customer care).
Step 1: Firstly, validate your Telephone Identification Number (TIN). TIN is a 4 - digit number provided to the credit card holder by HDFC Bank for accessing Phone Banking Services.
Step 2: Proceed and follow the instructions given to you post the verification of the TIN.
How to Unblock HDFC Credit Card?
Once you have blocked your HDFC Credit Card, the same can be re-activated by contacting the HDFC Bank Customer Care and raise a request for the same. It is better and safe not to reactivate a card that has been stolen or lost or if you have applied for re-issuance.
One can opt for unblocking the card only when the bank has blocked the card for spending beyond the set credit limit or late payments.
