For customers who find it difficult to visit their bank for banking services, doorstep banking services transform the inconvenience into comfortable banking services right at their doorstep. The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a division of India Post that is owned by the Department of Post, a department under the Ministry of Communications of the Government of India, offers convenient doorstep banking services for a nominal charge. Every Indian resident, regardless of where they reside in the country, can book this service online and conduct basic banking activities such as opening a bank account, transferring funds, depositing and withdrawing cash, recharging or paying bills, purchasing life and general insurance, and much more right at their doorstep with IPPB.

According to the IPPB's official website, the following banking services are available at your doorstep after a successful booking.

  • Digital account opening
  • Cash deposits and withdrawals
  • Fund transfer
  • Recharge and utility bill payments
  • Account-related services such as linkage of IPPB & post office account, updating PAN/nomination details, requesting account statement, issuing standing instructions, QR card issuance, etc.
  • Cash withdrawal, balance enquiry, and mini statement are all Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) services provided by IPPB at the doorstep.
  • Life insurance, general insurance, and mutual funds are forms of third-party services provided at the doorstep by IPPB.
  • Financial services such as Aadhaar with mobile number updating, issuance of digital life certificates, and payment for post office products such as Sukanya Samriddhi, PPF, RD, PLI, RPLI, LARD can all be done at the customer's doorstep.

According to the IPPB, a booking request can be made for a minimum of T+2 and a maximum of T+10, and a customer can choose a specific time for service delivery between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM on the scheduled day. Customers can make a service request by calling 155299 or submitting an ad-hoc request through GDS, Postmen, or the Post Office. Customers can also submit requests online by visiting ccc.cept.gov.in/ServiceRequest/request.aspx. Follow the steps to book your doorstep banking request online.

  • Visit https://ccc.cept.gov.in/ServiceRequest/request.aspx and enter your Name, Address, Pincode, Email Address, and Mobile Number.
  • From the drop-down box, select the service that you need to be done at your doorstep.
  • Now select the subcategory of the chosen service and click on 'Request OTP'.
  • You will now get a one-time password (OTP) on your given mobile number, enter the OTP and upon successful verification, your booking will be confirmed for which you will get a confirmation message on your mobile number.

The IPPB would impose a fee of Rs 20 + GST per customer serviced beyond 1 kilometer from the post office for each doorstep visit and there's no limit on transactions that can be done at the doorstep. According to IPPB, charges applicable on individual product or service availed during doorstep banking (DSB) visit will be as per "Schedule of charges" and will be in addition to the DSB charges. The following are the charges for IPPB and non-IPPB customers accessing doorstep banking.
