DMRC completed a massively technically challenging exercise to upgrade its AFC Gates, which were already in passenger services, on all of its corridors in record time without closing these gates for even one day. This was done to provide such a user-friendly, cashless, and quick mode of ticketing.

The entire process was completed mostly during the brief window of time that was left in the evening after passenger services had ended, so that all the gates remained open for passengers the next day. Over 60% of DMRC's AFC gates currently have QR code scanners installed, and the remaining 20% should follow suit within the next two months.
