How to Change or Update Photo In Your Aadhaar Card?

The Unique Identification Authority of India issues the 12-digit individual identification number on behalf of the government of India. It contains the cardholder's demographic and biometric data and is required for government benefits, filling out forms for schools or colleges, and other official work. However, many people do not like the photo on their Aadhaar cards and want to change it. Some parents may wish to have photographs of their children updated on their Aadhaar cards. It is possible to change the picture on an Aadhaar card.

A photograph is required when applying for an Aadhaar Card, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). If you want to change your photograph, you must go to your nearest Aadhaar enrollment centre. It's important to note that biometric updates like photos and fingerprints cannot be changed online.

How to Change/update the photo in your Aadhaar card

Step 1: Go to the UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.

Step 2: Go to the website and look for the Aadhaar enrollment form.

Step 3: Fill out the form completely and return it to the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra.

Step 4: The Aadhaar executive in attendance will confirm all of the details through biometric verification.

Step 5: The executive will then take a new photograph, which will be added to your Aadhaar card - Unique Identification number.

Step 6: For the service, you will be charged Rs 100 plus GST.

Step 7: An Aadhaar executive will provide you with an acknowledgement slip as well as an Update Request Number (URN).

Note: You can check the status of your most recent Aadhaar card on UIDAI's official website by entering the URN number.

Furthermore, the Aadhaar photo update procedure can take up to 90 days. When the process is finished, you can print your updated Aadhaar card by visiting an Aadhaar Enrollment Centre or downloading a copy of the E-Aadhaar from the UIDAI's official website.

How to Download Updated Aadhaar Card?

Following the update, you can obtain a digital copy of your Aadhaar card from the UIDAI's official website, uidai.gov.in.

Step 1: Go to the UIDAI website and select 'Download Aadhaar'.

Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar Number, Enrolment ID, or Virtual ID now.

Step 3: Enter the captcha and press the 'Send OTP' button.

Step 4: Enter your OTP and then click verify and download'. You can also download Aadhaar that has been masked.

Masked Aadhaar is a feature that enables users to conceal the Aadhaar card in the downloaded e-Aadhaar. Masked Aadhaar number means that the first eight digits of the Aadhaar number are replaced with characters such as "xxxx-xxxx," while only the last four digits of the Aadhaar number are visible.

You can book an appointment online before going to the Aadhaar enrollment centre for a photo update. The centre is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week (IST). These services are available to all Indian residents (including NRIs) throughout the country. A resident may schedule a maximum of four appointments per month.
