How To Check Balance In A Provident Fund (PF) Account Online, Interest Rate At 8.1%

Provident Funds are known to be one of the most significant investment options for their high returns. However, recently, the interest rate on PFs has been reduced to 8.1%, from 8.5%, by the union government.

There are multiple ways to check your PF balance.

On the EPFO website

An investor can log into the EPFO site (www.epfindia.gov.in) to check the balance. With the PF account, you will have an activated Universal Account Number (UAN), using it investors can update the e-passbook.

On the website, go to the 'For Employees' option under the 'Our Services' table. There, go to the 'Member Passbook' option below the 'Services' option. On that page put your UAN number and password to check the recent passbook. Hence, for this method, you must have the activated UAN.

Checking balance without UAN

On the other hand, without UAN, you can go to the site of epfoservices.in/epfo/, then choose the State before clicking on the office link. There you need to put the PF Account Number, name and registered mobile number. After that, click on the 'Submit' option to check your balance.

Checking balance through SMS

This is a very easy procedure to check the balance. With the activated UAN one can check the latest balance through an SMS. You need to send an SMS to 7738299899 writing 'EPFOHO UAN ENG'. In that case, you must link the UAN with your bank account, Aadhaar and PAN.

Though the Umang App

Umang App is a government app for investors, where you can check your PF balance. You need to register your mobile number in order to use this app, and you can check your PF balance here, and update the e-passbook.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) regulates and manages the provident funds. The employees' provident fund or PF is a government-managed retirement savings scheme, where the investors contribute each month, a part of their salaries. At the time of withdrawal, one can get lump sum payments along with the interest counted.
