What is EPF?

Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a government-backed savings plan designed to help employees cover their retirement expenses. Under the PF scheme, both the employee and the employer contribute monthly to the employee's EPF account. Employees should contribute a minimum of 12% of their basic salary. The employer must also contribute the same amount, i.e. 12% of the employee's base salary.

How to check EPF claim status?

Via Website

  • Go to the EPFO website. Click 'Services,' then the 'For Employees' option.
  • Click on Check the Status of Your Claim.
  • When you click on the link, you will be taken to the member passbook application.
  • Enter your Universal Account Number (UAN), password, and captcha to log in..
  • You will now see the option to 'View Claim Status.' View the status of your claim by clicking on the same.

Via Umang app

  • Search for EPFO in the Umang app.
  • Choose "Employee Centric Services"
  • Choose the "Track Claim" option.
  • Enter your UAN and then click the "Get OTP" button.
  • After entering the OTP, click the "Login" button.
  • All claims for the UAN will be shown. Each claim made to date includes a tracking ID, claim type, claim date, and claim status.

Via Call

Members can also check the status of their EPF withdrawal/transfer claims by calling the EPFO 24 hour customer service line at 1800 118 005.
Make a note of your PF Account Number or UAN because the helpline officer will need it to check the status of your claim.

Via SMS

Send an SMS to 7738299899 from your registered number in the format EPFOHO UAN LAN, where LAN stands for Language, such as HIN for Hindi or ENG for English, to check the status of your EPF Claim. There are ten languages supported.

Via Missed call

You can also leave a missed call from your UAN-registered mobile number on 011-22901406. The claim information will be sent to the registered mobile phone number.
