The State Bank of India (SBI), the largest in the country is known to provide user friendly banking and financial services to its customers.
If you an SBI customer and need to know your bank account balance, you can do so in more than one way.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, since you need to refrain from visiting public places, it is best to avoid going to the bank branch and checking bank balance at home instead.

An SBI account balance can be checked online over internet banking, mobile banking or on the bank's exclusive app YONO. If you do not have a smartphone or internet connection, you can evern check your SBI account balance using missed call facility or SMS facility.

Give a missed call to 09223766666 or SMS "BAL" to 09223766666.

These are toll-free numbers.

Note that this facility is only available for registered mobile numbers. If your mobile number is registered with your SBI account, you can even receive balance details on your mobile after missed call or SMS to the above-stated number.

How to register for SBI's SMS banking services?

How to register for SBI's SMS banking services?

To use the missed call or SMS facilities a customer will need to register their account number to SBI's SMS banking facility.

To do so, SMS ‘REG xxxxxxxxxx' to 09223488888 from your registered mobile number for that particular account number. In place of 'xxxx' type your account number, for example, "REG 12345678910".

You will receive a confirmation message indicating successful/unsuccessful registration.

Mini statement

For a mini statement of your SBI account- that includes a summary of last 5 account transactions- give a missed call or SMS "MSTMT" to 09223866666.

Cheque book

A cheque book request can also be raised via SBI's SMS banking facility. Send "CHQREQ" to 09223588888. You will instantly receive an SMS. Send consent SMS (CHQACCY6 digit no. received in SMS) to 09223588888 within 2 hours of receipt of SMS for further processing.

E-Statement

An SBI customer can avail e-statement for last 6 months of their savings bank account on their registered email ID. Note that this will be a password encrypted PDF file and the password can be decided by the customer.

Send an SMS ‘ESTMT' to 09223588888. Here code is any 4-digit number of your choice to be used as the PDF attachment's password.

  • Login to the personal banking section of https://www.onlinesbi.com/ using your username and password.
  • Go to account summary in the profile tab.
  • Click on 'Check here for balance'.
