Customers may have a complaint against their bank or a non-banking financial corporation (NBFC), but they are unsure how to proceed. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India's central bank, has implemented a complaint management system (CMS) through which users can register complaints against all financial service providers regulated by the central bank.
To make people aware of the situation, the RBI has been sending messages that read, "Lodge complaints against any bank, NBFC, or payment system participant on this website." Under the RB-Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, go to https://cms.rbi.org.in. Call 14440 for more information -RBI".
Who can file a complaint?
Anyone with a grievance or complaint against a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulated entity, such as a bank, non-banking financial company (NBFC), or payment system participant, can file a complaint through the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021's centralised complaint redressal system.
When can one file a complaint?
To file a complaint, the complainant must first contact the appropriate NBFC. If the NBFC does not respond within one month of receiving the complaint, or if the NBFC rejects the complaint, or if the complainant is dissatisfied with the NBFC's response, the complainant may file a complaint with the NBFC Ombudsman in the jurisdiction of the NBFC's branch/registered office.
