What is E-filing?
E-filing is the process of filing income tax returns online through your mobile, laptop or system from anywhere. E- filing is a convenient, easy and comfortable process of filing an ITR.
Eligibility for E-Filing
- Must be e-filing portal registered user
- Active PAN status
- Must have PAN and Aadhaar card linked
- Verify one bank account
- Nominate for refund
- Verify mobile number linked to Aadhaar and PAN card
Required documents to fill an ITR-
- Bank, post office or ppf account passbook
- Salary slip
- Aadhar Card and PAN card
- Form 16 issued by the employer
- Form-16A for deductions related to interest received from FD,RD etc
- Form-16B for deduction on sale of property
- Form-16C for deductions related to house rent
- Investment proofs
- Proof of deductions under 80D to 80U
- Proof of Home loan, if any
How to login to e-filing portal
- Go to the official website https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal
- Click on Register or Login
- Click on 'Taxpayer' and then enter the details of your PAN and click on 'validate'. Next, click on 'Continue'.
- Enter the required details
- Enter registered mobile number and mail id
- Verify the details
- Generate OTP
- Enter OTP received on your mobile number
- Set up a password
- Registration successful
How to file ITR online?
- Go to e-Filing portal, https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
- Login by user id, password, captcha code
- Click 'e-File' menu
- click 'Income Tax Return' link
- PAN will automatically filled in after that select the 'Assessment Year','ITR Form', 'Filing Type' and Submission Mode'
- Click on 'Continue'
- Fill out all the mandatory details
- Choose verification in 'taxes paid and verification
- Choose e-verify
- click the preview and Submit button
- Submit the ITR.
