How to Generate and activate UAN Account?

Every salaried person whose firm contributes to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) must activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) online. This will allow customers to access their PF account services, such as balance checks, withdrawals, and more, from anywhere and at any time. Here is how to activate your UAN number through the official website and sms.

What is UAN?

EPFO provides a UAN (Universal Account Number), which acts as a catch-all for the Member Ids provided to an individual by various firms. Its primary goal is to link multiple Member Identification Numbers (Member Id) provided to a single member to a single Universal Account Number. This enables the member to view the information for all Member Identification Numbers (Member Id) that are linked with it. If a member already possesses a Universal Account Number (UAN), he or she must provide it while enrolling in a new establishment so that the employer may associate the newly assigned Member Identification Number (Member Id) with the previously allocated Universal Account Number (UAN).

Documents Required to Generate UAN

• Identity proof such as Driving license, Voter ID, etc.
• Address proof such as utility bill,Ration card, etc.
• Bank account details
• PAN card
• Aadhaar card
• ESIC card

How to Activate UAN?

Step 1: Go to www.epfindia.gov.in.

Step 2: Choose our services and then click on workers.

Step 3: Choose member UAN/online services.

Step 4: Choose Activate Your UAN (located under important links on the right- hand side)

Step 5: Enter your basic information links UAN, name, date of birth, phone number, and captcha to obtain Otp authorization pin will be provided to the registered mobile phone.

Step 6: Choose I agree and input the OTP.

Step 7: Finally, click the validate OTP and activate UAN buttons.

How to Activate UAN through SMS?

• EPF members can also activate their accounts by sending a SMS to 7738299899.
• SMS will be charged at the rates set by the telecom provider of the individual who activates them.
• Once the account is activated, an individual may see all of the information, such as credit alerts, passbook, and so on.
• Send SMS to 7738299899 in the format EPFOHO UAN followed by the first three characters of the desired language.
• The Member must text EPFOHO ACT,>,> to 7738299899 from his cell phone.
• Now, your UAN will be activated.

How to Find your UAN?

Step 1: Navigate to the EPFO Member e-SEWA website

Step 2: The login page will be shown. Scroll down and click on 'Know your UAN' in the right bottom corner under the 'Important Links' section.

Step 3: Input the captcha and the cellphone number associated with your EPF account.

Step 4: Input the OTP that was sent to your phone and select 'Validate OTP & Get UAN.'

The UAN number will be sent to you.
