How to Get a Digital Voter ID Card: Step-by-Step Guide On How to Apply & Download e-EPIC Online

The Election Commission of India has introduced a faster way for citizens to apply for and receive their voter ID cards. Now, with digital tools, you can apply online, track your application in real time, and even download your digital voter ID card, also known as e-EPIC, all from the comfort of your home. This digital voter ID will be available for both first-time voters and anyone who wants to update existing details. The system is backed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

What's New in the Digital Voter ID System?

With this new voter ID card, applicants can receive their physical voter ID card within just 15 days of applying or updating their details, a major improvement over the earlier timeline. With real-time tracking, voters can check their application status at every step. In addition, SMS alerts keep applicants informed from submission to dispatch. The final delivery is handled securely by the Department of Posts (DoP), backed by ECI's integrated IT system, ensuring both speed and safety in the voter ID card distribution process.

Steps to Apply For Digital Voter ID Card

You can easily apply for a new voter ID card or update existing details through the official National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) or ECI Net portal. No need to visit government offices.
Step 1: Visit the official https://www.nvsp.in website.
Step 2: Click on "Form 6" for new registration.
Step 3: Fill in your name, date of birth, and address.
Step 4: Upload the required documents and passport-sized photo.
Step 5: Submit the form and note down the reference number for future tracking.
Step 6: For tracking Click on "Track Application Status" on the same page.
Step 7: Enter your reference number and select your state and submit to see the live status.
