How to link PAN card with Aadhaar card?

Permanent Account Number (PAN) card and Aadhaar Card are two important documents. You might have both. If not, then you apply for it as soon as possible. In case you have PAN card but have not yet connected it to your Aahaar number, you must do so by March 31, 2022, as neglecting it might attract a penalty. Previously, the deadline to connect the PAN with the Aadhaar was 31 December 2021, however, the deadline has been extended by the government to March 31, 2022.

If you fail to link your PAN card with your Aadhaar Number, your PAN card will become invalid, putting you in trouble as you didn't complete the linkage within the given time. Further, this might also cost you a penalty of RS 1,000. In addition, if you are an investor, you won't be able to invest in mutual funds, stocks, or open a bank account if your PAN card isn't linked to your Aadhaar card.

Link PAN Card Online With Aadhaar Number

Follow the belwoe steps to link the PAN card with Aadhaar card:

Step 1: Visit the new e-filing Income Tax portal - https://incometax.gov.in/

Step 2: Click on the link Aadhaar

Step 3: Enter your PAN Number, Aadhaar Number, Your name as per Aadhaar Card, and Mobile Number

Step 4: Check box "I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card" if needed

Step 5: Click on the box that says "I agree to validate my Aadhaar details". Hit continue.

Step 6: You will receive a six-digit One Time Password (OTP) on your registered phone number. Enter the OTP on the verification page.

Step 7: Click on the 'Validate' option on the screen.

Link through SMS

If you don't have internet access, you can also link your PAN card with your Aadhaar number through SMS.

Aadhaar Link Status

If you have followed the linking process and want to know the linkage status, you can also do it on the same portal i.e. incometx.gov.in portal.

Step 1: Click on the "Aadhaar Link Status" below the "Link Aadhaar".

Step 2: FIll the the PAN Card NUmber and Aadhaar Number.

Step 3: Click on the View Link Ststus.

Now, you cna see your PAN-Aadhaar number link ststus.
