In today's time, all of us are dependent on net banking through website/mobile applications or online transaction platforms like Google pay, Phone Pe, Paytm, etc. This habit has made our banking services much easier but has also invited many challenges regarding cyber security and safety. Many people have been trapped by fraud and lost their money due to a lack of awareness about accurate information.

Common customers, irrespective of the fact if they have opted for net banking or not, should be careful about few points nowadays. By these, they can avoid being trapped, or at least can identify a fraud person or an incident by which he/she is being targeted.
The most important and first point to remember is - do not share any personal data via phone call or other modes of communication if an unknown person asks for the same. Your age, date of birth, birthplace, parents' names, account number, card number, IFSC code, and OTP is very private and important information; any leak of this information can lead to a fraud transaction.
One must use a strong password which is not easy to track.
Regular updates of the Operating System (OS) and installing patches are important.
Beware of the current phishing scams that you can avoid the same.
Lock the mobile phone or the device you use regularly when it is not being used.
Back up the device data regularly.
Review the online account regularly in case you have the net banking option for easy transactions.
Use multi-factor authentication in your app, if available.
Use recommended anti-virus software on the device to avoid any kind of virus that can track your transaction or password to steal the money from your account.
Download mobile apps from trusted sources, any other app can bring a virus to your device and your money can be unsafe, if the device is synced with your account.
Avoid KYC fraud
A bank will not send links to their customers to update the KYC information, just like they will not call and ask for any type of customer's bank-related information. If a customer receives any kind of link asking to fill up KYC, the link should be avoided. These links can be sent by the frauds. These messages are not recommended to forward to anybody. Additionally clicking on links/phone numbers/email ids sent via text message should be strictly avoided as a bank will not send any link via text message.
All banks are celebrating National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, hence they are urging their customers to be more conscious and informed towards the matter of online banking transactions and cyber security.
