How To Pre-Validate Your Bank Account And Raise Refund Reissue Request?

ITR filing deadline is almost few days away and if there is a refund applicable to you in case of a higher TDS or you have paid a higher tax due to miscalculation, the same can be claimed at the filing ITR. Nevertheless for it to be successfully credited to your bank account, your bank account should be linked to PAN and the said condition applies from March 1, 2019.

For the same you need to complete the pre-validation of bank account on the income tax e-filing page. The procedure for ensuring that your bank account in which you wish your tax refund to be credited is pre-validated or not is as below:

After you successfully login to the new income tax portal using your credentials

Go the 'My profile' section and then select the 'My Bank account' section displaying on the left hand side of the screen.

The screen shall reflect three categories of accounts possibly added accounts, failed bank account or removed bank account. Also, on the same screen, the bank account i.e. validated shall be appearing.

Note the above is discussed as there can be a case that you have already done the process when the income tax launched its new portal last year.

So, for successful credit of e-refund to your bank account, both the pre-validation and bank account linking with PAN conditions should be met.

Can refund reissue request be made without pre-validation of bank account?

First and foremost as per the FAQs on the Income tax website, for raising the refund reissue request also you need to pre-validate your bank account at the income tax e-filing website. Download ECS mandate form.

Take print out of the form and fill the necessary details.

Get the form signed with bank seal from official Bank.

Upload the scanned copy of signed form.

So, typically after the process of pre-validation is complied with taxpayer who has received an intimation from Income Tax Department or Refund Banker (SBI) that the processing of refund has failed, you can submit a Refund Reissue Request on the e-Filing portal. With refund reissue request service, taxpayer can raise request in e-Filing portal for re-issuance of refund.
