How To Register/Update Mobile Number With SBI Savings Account Online & Offline

It is significant to register or update your mobile number with your bank account. SBI offers different ways to link your mobile number with your bank account. Below they are:

SBI

Offline ways to register or update your mobile number with SBI savings account: You can get it done simply by visiting the nearest SBI branch or through an SBI ATM. In order to avail internet banking services, it is imperative to link your mobile number with SBI Bank account. If you have not linked your mobile number with your bank account, you will not be able to access net banking or mobile banking. When you link your mobile number with SBI Bank account, it helps your achieve KYC compliance and enjoy secure banking activities based on one-time password (OTP).

Through SBI ATM

  • Visit your nearest SBI ATM
  • Choose registration option from available options
  • Enter your ATM Pin
  • Choose mobile number registration option from available options
  • Choose change mobile number option from available options
  • You shall be asked to fill your old mobile number and confirm it
  • Now you will need to fill your new mobile number and confirm it
  • You will get different OTPs on new and old mobile number with the message "Please send OTP and reference number received in SMS from new as well as an existing mobile number in the following format ACTIVATE IOTP VALUE + REF NUMBER TO 567676 within 4 hours."
  • Your mobile number with your SBI Bank account will be updated

Through SBI Branch:

  • Visit your nearest SBI branch in order to update your mobile number
  • Fill a Letter of Request
  • Submit Letter of Request
  • Mobile number will be linked/updated after necessary verification by branch
  • You will get an SMS on your registered mobile number pertaining to status of updation

Update Mobile Number Through SBI Internet Banking:

  • Visit www.onlinesbi.com
  • Go to profile tab
  • Click on "Personal Details" link
  • Enter profile password
  • Click on the hyper link 'Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM)'
  • A new screen 'Personal Details-Mobile Number Update' with three tabs 'Create Request', 'Cancel Request' and 'Status' will appear.
  • Input 'new mobile number'
  • Input Re-input 'new mobile number'
  • Click on 'Submit' button
  • A pop-up message 'Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx' will appear on the screen.
  • Click 'Ok' to proceed

You need to approve mobile number updation through One Time Password (OTP) on both old and new mobile numbers

By OTP On Both The Mobile Number:

  • If you carry both the old and new mobile number, then the mobile number change can be approved online using OTP.
  • Click the radio button against the option 'By OTP on both the Mobile Number'
  • Click on 'Proceed' button.
  • Select the account by clicking the radio button, for which you possess the debit card.
  • Click on 'Proceed' button.
  • You will be directed to State Bank of India's ATM card Validation screen.
  • Where you will be displayed with active & closed ATM cards associated with the selected account.
  • Choose the active ATM card and click on 'Confirm' button.
  • In the next screen the selected ATM card number will be displayed.
  • Fill the card details (Valid To/Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN and Enter the text as shown in the image).
  • Click on 'Proceed' button.
  • On successful validation, INB system will send OTP along with reference number on your old as well as new mobile number.
  • You must send SMS from BOTH (old and new) mobile numbers in following format ACTIVATE to 567676 within 4 hrs. e.g. ACTIVATE 12345678 UM12051500123
  • After successful validation of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number inputted by you shall be copied in INB, CBS and ATM. A successful message in this regard will also be displayed to customer on his mobile number
