How to Verify Aadhaar Using Secure QR Code?

UIDAI replaced the existing QR code on e-Aadhaar that contained demographic information for residents with a secure QR code that includes demographic information as well as the Aadhaar holder's photograph. Previously, QR codes on Aadhaar print-letters and e-Aadhaar contained only the Aadhaar number holder's demographic information. UIDAI introduced a new Secure QR Code that includes demographic information as well as a photograph of the Aadhaar number holder. Because it is digitally signed by UIDAI, the information in the QR Code is secure and tamper-proof.

The new digitally signed secure QR code can be read and validated against UIDAI digital signatures in real time using UIDAI's custom application. As a result, any attempt at Aadhaar fraud can be easily detected using a QR code scanner.

Aadhaar QR Codes found on Aadhaar Letters, e-Aadhaar, and m-Aadhaar can be read using mobile Apps.The identity of the presenter can be verified by scanning the Secure QR Code on the presented Aadhaar/ e-Aadhaar.

A secure QR code is a visual code that contains demographic information and a photograph of the Aadhaar holder and is digitally signed by UIDAI.

If the resident has an old copy of their Aadhaar card and wishes to use offline verification. He or she can present an e-Aadhaar/ m-Aadhaar card or visit the UIDAI website.

Following the installation of UIDAI's QR code application, the secure QR code of Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar/m-Aadhaar must be scanned using a physical scanner in accordance with UIDAI specifications. Once the QR Code of e-Aadhaar is digitally verified by UIDAI at the backend and given scan QR Code verified, the application will display the demographic including photograph details of the resident. If the digital signature is not verified, the reader displays the QR Code not verified GUI Screen.

Step 1: Install and open the mAadhaar app.

Step 2: Open the QR Code Scanner application. Remember that every printed Aadhaar card contains a QR Code.

Step 3 Scan the QR Code on the displayed Aadhaar card.

Step 4: Confirm the same with the physical copy provided to you.

This new digitally signed QR code can only be read and validated in real time using UIDAI's windows-based Custom client for desktops/laptops. As a result, using a QR Code scanner, any e-Aadhaar fraud can be easily detected.

Any Aadhaar card can be validated in person or online. Scan the QR code on your e-Aadhaar, Aadhaar letter, or AadhaarPVCcard to verify offline. This QR code scanner can be used to verify the authenticity of the Aadhaar card that you have been given.
