Income Tax Department Clarifies Reasons For PAN-Aadhaar Linking Failure

Linking your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar is an essential requirement mandated by the Income Tax Department in India. It is crucial to ensure seamless income tax filings and to prevent any discrepancies or potential penalties. However, there are instances where the PAN Aadhaar linking process may encounter obstacles and fail. The Income Tax Department has provided clarification on three common reasons for such failures.

Reasons for the failure of PAN-Aadhaar linking

Demographic mismatch can happen when integrating PAN and Aadhaar for the following reasons:

 PAN-Aadhaar Linking

• Name

• Date of Birth

• Gender

A demographic mismatch between PAN and Aadhaar occurs when the personal information on your PAN card and Aadhaar card does not match. This could be brought on by a number of things, such as a misspelt name, an inaccurate birthdate, or a change in gender.

In the event of a demographic disparity, linking your PAN and Aadhaar will not be possible. You must correct the inconsistency in either your PAN card or your Aadhaar card before you can link them. To fix the inconsistency in your PAN card, you can apply for a PAN card.
