Features of savings account at India Post
- The account earns 4 percent per annum.
- The account can be opened with a minimum of Rs 20 and minimum balance to be maintained in a non-Cheque facility account is Rs 50.
- For bank account with cheque facility, the minimum balance to be maintained is Rs 500 and the account can also be opened with a minimum of Rs 500.
- Account can be transferred from one post office to another.
- Account can be opened in the name of minor and a minor of 10 years and above age can open and operate the account.
A savings account at India Post also comes with ATM card facility.

- Free with a limit of 5 transactions per day. In metro cities, the limit on free transactions (both financial and non-financial) is set at 3.

- 3 free transactions (financial and non-financial) at metro cities per month
- 5 free transactions (financial and non-financial) at non-metro cities per month
Charges on transactions at other bank ATMs
- Rs 20 + applicable GST on financial transactions exceeding permissible free limits
- Rs 8 + applicable GST on financial transactions exceeding permissible free limits
