Indian post office-How to avail mobile banking facility for savings accounts

Having a post office saving account, now it's easier to operate your account throug the mobile banking facility provided by post office to its savings account customers. Now it is easy to keep a track on your account activity,deposits, withdrawals etc. In this article you will learn how to use or apply for this mobile banking facility.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must have a post office savings account.
  • Valid Internet banking login credentials
  • Customers with either a single or joint 'B' account are eligible.
  • Joint 'A', Minor, Illiterate, and branch office accounts are not eligible for mobile banking.

A Joint-A account is one opened by two or three adults and operated jointly or by the survivor/s. Accounts opened by the two-three adults and operated by either of them or either of the survivor/s are referred to as Joint B type accounts.

Pre- requisites of mobile banking

  • Active Single or Joint "B" Savings account at a CBS-enabled Branch Post Office, Sub Post Office, or Head Post Office
  • If not already submitted, provide the necessary KYC documents.
  • Unique mobile number that is valid
  • PAN number
  • Email address

How to apply for mobile banking facility

  • Eligible post office savings account holders can apply at any CBS head/sub post office, but not at branch offices. The savings account holder must fill out the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) ATM card/Internet/Mobile/SMS banking service request form, which is available at the post office.
  • The said account holder's KYC should be completed. If your KYC process has not been completed, you must go through it again when submitting your request form.
  • Only at a CBS post office where the savings bank account is held can the form be submitted.
  • Remember that when using mobile banking, each customer's mobile number must be unique, and the same mobile number cannot be used for any other
  • Your CIF ID will be your user ID, and your transaction password will be the password you previously set through the internet banking facility.

Services available through mobile banking

  • Savings, RD, LARD (Loan Against Recurring Deposit), TD, PPF, Loan Against PPF, NSC account balances and details
  • Savings, RD, TD, PPF, Loan against PPF, and NSC transactions
  • Savings, PPF, and Mini Statement
  • Transfer of funds between one's own savings account and another post office savings account holder
  • Transfer of funds from a savings account to an owned/linked RD and an owned/linked LARD account
  • Funds are transferred from a savings account to a PPF (Subscription and Loan on PPF) account.
  • Request for the establishment of an RD account

What if I misplace my M-PIN?

  • Go to the India Post Mobile Banking app,
  • Click on Activate Mobile Banking tab
  • Enter the information requested by the app
  • Enter the new M-PIN.

What if I don't remember my transaction password?

  • Go to the India Post Internet Banking website
  • Click on forgot password
  • reset the password
  • During the reset, follow the instructions provided by the applications.
