LPG prices in India has become cheaper in the month of January 2025, as the leading oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices on its 19Kg cylinder cooking gas for Indian citizens. The prices remained unchanged in 14.2kg cylinders. The 19Kg LPG cylinders are cheaper for the first time in six months. With the latest revision in LPG prices, here's how you can book your indane gas at Indian Oil Corporation, the largest producer of cooking gas.
LPG Prices In 19Kg:
LPG Prices In Delhi: In the national capital, LPG prices are cut by Rs 14.5 per 19kg cylinder to Rs 1,804 from January 1, 2025, compared to Rs 1,818.5 in December 2024. From July 2024 to December 2024, 19kg LPG was hiked by a whopping Rs 172.5 per cylinder.

LPG Prices In Mumbai: In January 2025, the 19 kg LPG price was also reduced by Rs 15 to Rs 1756 per cylinder compared to the price of Rs 1771 per cylinder in the previous month. From July to December of 2024, the LPG price in 19kg cylinders was increased by Rs 171 per cylinder.
LPG Prices In Kolkata: In the city of Kolkata, LPG price per 19 kg cylinder recorded the most cut to the tune of Rs 16 to Rs 1911 in January 2025, compared to Rs 1927 in December 2024. From July to December of 2024, 19 kg LPG Prices were raised by Rs 173.
LPG Prices In Chennai: Starting from January 1st, per LPG cylinder in 19kg is now available at Rs 1966 in Chennai, which is lowered by Rs 14.5 compared to Rs 1980.5 in December 2024. In Chennai, LPG prices are expensive compared to the above-mentioned cities. The prices were increased by Rs 171 in the city from July to December 2024.
The latest decline in LPG prices comes after hike of five-consecutive month, which started from August 2024 after LPG prices were brought down by Rs 30 to 31 in these metro cities in July 2024.
LPG Prices In 14.2KG Cylinder:
Leading OMCs have LPG prices in 14.2kg cylinders unchanged since August 1, 2024. In January 2025 as well, the 14.2 kg cylinder price is at Rs 803 in Delhi, Rs 829 in Kolkata, Rs 802.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 818.50 in Chennai.
How To Apply For New LPG Connection Online At Indian Oil:
Indane is available for domestic use generally in 14.2 Kg capacity cylinders and is also available in 5 Kg capacity cylinders in select few cities primarily in hilly / rural areas in the country.
New LPG Connections are now available on demand across the country. In case you do not have an LPG connection from any of the PSU Oil Companies in your household and you have a separate cooking area in your house you can have an Indane domestic connection in your household. For a domestic connection, you can visit nearest Indane distributor serving in your area and register for the connection with a valid proof of identity and residence. One of the following documents can be produced for proof of residence.

However, in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states, as per the requirement of the State Government, a Ration Card is a must for the issue of new connections for prospective domestic LPG customers.
On registration, the distributor will send you an intimation letter through registered post. You need to carry the letter and the envelope to the distributor to avail the connection
The Indane connection will be released to you immediately. However, before the release of an LPG connection, you should have an ISI mark Hotplate conforming to IS:4246 and a Suraksha LPG hose confirming to IS:9573 (Type IV), so that after the release of your Indane connection, it may be installed at your residence immediately.
However, for the release of your Indane connection, you will be required to pay a security deposit at the following rates:
In North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Manipur -- security deposit of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,150 is required to be paid for a 14.2 kg cylinder and 5 kg cylinder. Notably, payment of Rs 200 is also required as a pressure regulator.
Meanwhile, in the rest of India, the security deposit amount is Rs 2,200 for a 14.2 kg cylinder, and Rs 1,150 for a 5kg cylinder. While the amount for a pressure regulator is Rs 250.
Also, since August 2015, IOC launched the facility of release of LPG connection with online payment and issuance of e-SV under the Digital India initiative on at PAN India basis.
'e-SV' is the electronic subscription voucher which has the details of a number of cylinders and pressure regulator loaned to the consumer against the security deposit. This document is emailed to the customer upon release of the LPG connection online, as per the main statement.
The process for Sahaj's online new connection is as follows:
- Prospective Customers Register for new connections by filling out an Online KYC Form & uploading POI & POA
- Online Inter Company Dedupe of KYCs
- Form a waitlist for the dedupe cleared cases.
- Released of waitlist by distributors by verification of POI & POA with entered KYC data
- Intimation to the prospective customer by email & SMS to proceed with the request & select the equipment and the payment mode he/ she desires.
- Customer will pay online by selecting a mode of payment i.e by credit/ debit cards or net banking
- Customers also have the option to visit the distributorship to make the payment.
