Mandatory eKYC For PMKisan Scheme Temporarily Suspended: Here’s Why

The PM-KISAN Scheme, which is funded by the Indian government, provides 100% financial support to farmers. All land-owning farmer families receive annual income support of 6,000/- in three equal installments under the plan. However, in order to be eligible for the fund benefit, one must complete the KYC. For PM KISAN registered farmers, eKYC is mandatory, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has recently extended the deadline to May 22, 2022, from March 31, 2022.

Mandatory eKYC For PMKisan Scheme Temporarily Suspended: Here’s Why

Farmers who have not completed the KYC process for their accounts should be aware that the service has been temporarily paused. According to PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi (pmkisan.gov.in) portal "eKYC is MANDATORY for PMKISAN Registered Farmers. Pls. contact nearest CSC centres for Biometric authentication Aadhar based eKYC through OTP Authentication has been temporarily suspended."

It has also been mentioned on the portal that "Deadline of eKYC for all the PMKISAN beneficiaries has been extended till 31st May 2022."

Farmers will be unable to complete Aadhaar-based KYC formalities utilising OTP authentication using their Aadhaar-linked mobile number since Aadhar-based eKYC using OTP Authentication has been temporarily banned. However, in order to get the 11th payment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the beneficiary must complete eKYC offline at a Common Service Center (CSC) using Aadhaar details.

For the KYC update, you'll need your bank account number, IFSC/ MICR code, mobile number, and Aadhaar number. The following mentioned details can be updated at the Common Service Centre e-Governance Services India Limited - Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) or the State Nodal Officers (SNOs) under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Scheme in order to ensure account KYC compliance.

In addition to the KYC credentials, the correct bank account number should be provided at the time of registration. Beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Scheme who wish to modify their bank details in order to receive the 11th installment can do so by visiting their nearest CSC. For the same, the PM Kisan's FAQ section says that "A Subscriber, who desires to change the bank details or any other details which are incorrect, will approach CSC or the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) present at the CSC, along with PM-KMY number and Aadhaar Card. However, the Date of Birth of the Subscriber cannot be changed at any time. The VLE at CSC will validate the credentials of the Member on the payment of the Amount / Fee as prescribed by the Government from time to time."
