Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana 2026: Eligibility, Benefits, Application Process
In the budget announced in February, the Madhya Pradesh government allocated a massive Rs 23,800 crore for the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, one of its flagship women welfare schemes aimed at making women financially independent. Despite the scheme's growing popularity across the state, many people are still unclear about its eligibility criteria, benefits, and application process. Here's a detailed look at the scheme.

What Is Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana?
The Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana is a financial assistance scheme launched by the Madhya Pradesh government on January 28, 2023, under the Department of Women and Child Development.
The scheme was launched after the government observed a significant gap in labour force participation between men and women. In rural areas, only 23.3% of women participate in the workforce compared to 57.7% of men, while in urban areas, women's participation stands at 13.6% against 55.9% for men. To address this disparity and improve women's economic and social well-being, the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced the scheme.
Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 and 60 years from families with an annual income below Rs 2.5 lakh receive direct monthly financial assistance from the government. The initiative aims to strengthen women's financial security while also supporting their education, nutrition, healthcare, and self-employment opportunities. It is also intended to improve women's participation in household decision-making.
Initially, beneficiaries received Rs 1,000 per month under the scheme. The amount was increased to Rs 1,250 in October 2023 and was further raised to Rs 1,500 per month from November 2025.
