Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday disbursed the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) to more than 53,600 beneficiaries worth Rs 536 crore. PM Modi released the first instalment to beneficiaries during his visit in Bihar at a public gathering in Siwan, alongside Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
PM Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) is the central government's flagship scheme to provide housing for everyone, especially those below the poverty line. The scheme was launched in 2015 and was scheduled to end in 2022, but was later extended till 31 December 2025. The beneficiaries receive the financial assistance under the scheme through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
In addition to releasing the first instalment of the scheme to its beneficiaries, PM Modi also handed over keys to 6,684 PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries who had received possession of their houses. For those PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries who are waiting to receive the instalment of their subsidy, here are different ways in which they can check status of the instalment of their subsidy.
PM Awas Yojana Instalment: How To Check Subsidy Status Online?
Beneficiaries of the scheme receive the first instalment of the subsidy as part of the Central Assistance and State/ULB share through DBT mode. Under this method, the instalment is credited directly into the beneficiary's bank account as per the geo-tagged stage of the construction with PFMS and GIS-based MIS, etc, according to PMAY's website. Here are different ways to check the online status of PM Awas Yojana.
PM Awas Yojana Instalment: How To Check Status Via SMS?
-PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries will receive a text SMS alert informing them about the disbursement of their instalment amount. The message will be sent on the registered mobile number of the beneficiaries.
-In addition to receiving the message on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs updating about the instalment disbursement, beneficiaries will also receive a message from their bank related to the amount deposited on their account.
PM Awas Yojana Instalment: How To Check Status Online?
Beneficiaries can check their online passbook or their transaction status to know about their payment history. This would help them to know about any deposit of the PM Awas subsidy amount in their bank account.
To check the passbook online, it is important for beneficiaries to know their net banking password and customer id. The next step is to instal the online banking application of your bank account. Login by entering credential and access the online passbook to check recent transaction details.
Another method to check PM Awas Instalment details is via the Umang Application. Download and install the application. Open the application and search for 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana'. Then opt for 'Instalment Details'. Enter your registration number and click on 'Search' option to know your instalment details.

PM Awas Yojana Instalment: How To Check Status Offline?
Visit your nearest bank branch and update your passbook. Carefully evaluate your past transactions and look for any deposit related to PM Awas Yojana transactions.
