Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced the release of the 13th instalment of approximately Rs 16,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to eligible farmers in Belagavi, Karnataka. The scheme provides eligible farmer families with a benefit of Rs 6000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs 2000 each. Modi's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, launched in 2019, aims to provide income support to all landholder farmer families with cultivable land across the country, subject to certain exclusions. We transferred over Rs 2.5 lakh crore to farmers' bank accounts in the country through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. More than Rs 50,000 crore, in particular, has been credited to women farmers, he added.
The latest instalment will see Rs 2,000 deposited into the bank accounts of eligible farmers, benefiting over 8 crore people. The Scheme's 11th and 12th installments were distributed in May and October of last year. It should be noted that eKYC is required for PM KISAN Registered Farmers to receive the Rs 2,000 financial assistance under the scheme.
