PNB Customers: Know How to Download Form 16A and Interest Certificate?

The savings deposit and fixed deposits of customers do attract income tax. It is a good habit to keep a record of all TDS certificates with us while filing the income tax returns.

The savings deposit and fixed deposits of customers do attract income tax as per the Income Tax Act of 1961. Interest earned on fixed deposit of up to Rs 40,000 per annum is exempt from income tax. Anything beyond Rs 40,000 per year is subject to tax. Hence the bank will directly deduct the tax deducted at source (TDS) from the fixed deposit before handing over the maturity proceeds to the investors.

It is a good habit to keep a record of all the tax deducted at source (TDS) certificates or Form 16A and the interest certificates with us while filing the income tax returns.

PNB Customers: Know How to Download Form 16A and Interest Certificate?

The TDS certificates contain all the details of the total tax deducted by the bank on the interest paid amount or levied on the fixed deposit for every quarter. So, it is necessary to have a look at this form every quarter to easily verify the total amount of TDS deducted by the bank.

An Interest Certificate is similar to the TDS Certificate and this will be issued by the bank at the end of the financial year. It contains the details of the total interest paid on the fixed and savings accounts. The interest earned on a savings account is taxable as per the Income Tax Act.

Individuals can get Form 16A either by physically visiting the bank branch or one can even download it from the bank web portal without logging into the Net Banking facility.

Procedure to Download Form 16A for PNB Customers

Step 1: First visit the official page of Punjab National Bank.
Step 2: Now Choose the option 'Get your Form 16A' which can be found on the right-hand side of the web portal.
Step 3: Proceed further and enter your PAN details, select the financial year from the drop-down menu and the respective quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) to check TDS for every quarter.
Step 4: Click on the 'Submit' button.
Step 5: A one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Step 6: Enter the OTP and captcha code in the required fields and proceed further. (Note: OTP will be valid for 30 minutes)
Step 7: Now Click on the 'Validate' button. Post successful validation, a pop-up will appear on the screen which will give you an option to save the zip file on your system.

Procedure to Download Interest Certificate for PNB Customers

To download interest certificate, the PNB customers should have access to the net banking facility of the bank and follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1: First visit the official website of Punjab National Bank.
Step 2: Enter your login details to log in to your account.
Step 3: Once you log in, click on 'Deposit Accounts' which can be found under the 'Manage Accounts Tab'.
Step 4: Proceed further and select the respective financial year and customer ID from the drop-down menu and click on the 'Submit' button.
Step 5: Now you can view the details of the interest paid on your deposits and tax deducted if any.
Step 6: You will be able to see a message which reads Certificate has been generated successfully. Please download the same. Proceed further you will be able to see 'Download Details As' option in that select 'PDF file' to download the certificate and click on 'OK' button. You will be prompted to save the PDF on your system.
