PNG Gas Update: The ongoing Iran-US war in the West Asia has reportedly disrupted Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder supply chain across the country with several restaurants and commercial kitchens reporting shortage. Meanwhile, the central government has also urged households to opt for piped natural gas (PNG) connection if it is available in their locality.
For those who are planning to switch from LPG to PNG, they can apply for their PNG gas connection online by checking their respective city gas distribution company. PNG is an easier and convenient way of using cooking gas. Piped supply of natural gas also eliminates the requirement of refuelling LPG cylinders on a regular basis.

Additionally, people can also pay the monthly bill for consuming PNG gas. Here are easy steps in which households with PNG gas connection can pay the bill online.
How To Pay PNG Gas Bill Onine?
-Know details about your PNG connection like BP number, ie business partner number. It is a unique 10-digit number.
Customers can note it down from their gas bill.
-People can pay their PNG bill from payment applications like PhonePe, Paytm, etc.
-Open the application and select the 'Recharge & Bills' section.
-Select 'Piped Gas' in the utilities section.
-Now enter the required details like your BP number.
-Fill other information and proceed.
-You will receive the details of amount to be paid.
-Make the payment and save as screenshot for future reference.
How To Book a PNG Connection?
Different companies are responsible for providing PNG connection in different cities and states. Major city gas distribution operators include Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) in the Delhi-NCR region, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in Mumbai and neighbouring locations. Gujarat Gas is responsible for for PNG supply across different cities in Gujarat. Adani Total Gas operates PNG supply in cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Faridabad, and Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, GAIL Gas Limited operates PNG supply network in Bengaluru, Patna, certain districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
How To Apply For IGL PNG Connection?
-Visit the official IGL website, ie https://www.iglonline.net/newConnection)
-Navigate to PNG connection section.
-Click on 'Apply for PNG connection'.
-Make soiree to select 'Domestic' or 'Residential' as the category for PNG gas connection application.
-Fill the required form-Enter details like name, address, etc
-Submit required documents and proceed.
-Submit the application and you will receive an application number for tracking the document.
-Wait for verification. Once it will be completed the PNG connection will be applied.
While retail consumers have been encouraged to switch to PNG, the Government of India recently asked city gas distribution (CGD) companies to prioritise piped natural gas (PNG) connections for commercial establishments, and has also taken several steps to ensure stable fuel supplies as conflict in West Asia continues to impact energy flows.
