SIR in Karnataka: How to Apply for Permanent Resident Certificate In Karnataka; Check Eligibility & Documents
With the special intensive revision in Karnataka now in full swing, the Karnataka government has officially started accepting applications for the Permanent Resident Certificate from July 17. The certificate can be obtained online through the Seva Sindhu portal or offline at some citizen service centres across the state.

Who Can Apply for a Karnataka Permanent Resident Certificate?
Applicants need to satisfy at least one of the following eligibility conditions:
- Those who are Born in Karnataka.
- Those who have lived in Karnataka continuously for 10 years or have parents/legal guardians have lived in the state for at least 10 years
- Those who have completed schooling up to Class 12 in Karnataka.
- If the Father, mother, legal guardian or spouse is a permanent resident of Karnataka they are eligible.
- If you own, possess, or legally occupy residential property in Karnataka.
- You must have records in government databases such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Ration Card, Revenue records
Applicant or either parent has served in a Karnataka government department or public institution for at least seven years.
How to Apply Online for a Karnataka Permanent Resident Certificate
Step 1: Visit the Seva Sindhu portal.
Step 2: Log in using your mobile number.
Step 3: Select Permanent Resident Certificate service.
Step 4: Fill in the application form.
Step 5: Upload the required supporting documents.
Step 6: Submit the application.
Step 7: Track the application status online.
Offline Application for Karnataka Permanent Resident Certificate
Applicants can also apply through local centres like Grama One centres, Karnataka One centres or Bengaluru One centres.

In order to apply for Karnataka Permanent Resident Certificate one must require the following documents depending on eligibility, applicants may need:
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter ID
- Ration Card
- Birth Certificate
- School/College certificates
- Property documents
- Government service records
- Parents' or spouses' residence proof
Verification Process
The certificate will be issued only after verification by authorised Revenue Department officials

- Important Points To Remember
- The PRC is not mandatory for all Karnataka residents.
- It has been introduced mainly to help eligible residents to establish permanent residence during the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
- PRC is different from the regular Karnataka domicile or residential certificate
