Do you want to stop a signed check without going to the bank? Customers of the State Bank of India can stop a cheque without having to visit the home branch. A State Bank of India customer can halt the payment of an SBI cheque by following a few simple steps online. A person will no longer need to visit the bank; instead, they can complete the necessary tasks using the SBI YONO app. Customers who have registered for SBI's internet banking and mobile banking services can instruct the bank to stop payment of cheque' online. The account holder's registered mobile number will receive an OTP, which must be entered to complete the process.
How to stop cheque payment Online?
Step 1: Go to the SBI Bank website (onlinesbi.com).
Step 2: Sign in with your net banking credentials and enter the Captcha and OTP.
Step 3: Select 'Request & Enquiries.'
Step 4: Select the 'Stop Payment' option.
Step 5: Enter the information such as the Start Cheque Number and the End Cheque Number.
Step 6: Select the cheque type and the reason.
Step 7: Select the terms and conditions checkbox.
Step 8: Click the submit button.
After successfully submitting the request to suspend SBI cheque payment, a message with the reference number for the request will appear.
How to stop cheque payment via SBI Yono App?
This option is available to customers who have SBI YONO mobile banking app login information and have activated the app.
Step 1: Open the SBI Yono App.
Step 2: Select 'Service Request.'
Step 3: From the options, select the 'Cheques' box and then the 'Stop Cheque' button.
Step 4: Depending on your needs, select either 'Single Cheque' or 'Multiple Cheques.'
Step 5: Choose an account number, a type of cheque, and a reason from the drop-down menu.
Step 6: Press the 'Next' button.
After that, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number for verification. You must enter this OTP before the bank can process your request to halt the SBI cheque payment.
How to stop payment of cheque offline?
By visiting the nearest SBI branch, you can give a 'cheque stop payment' instructions. Send a written request containing the cheque number, the name of the party to whom the cheque was issued, the date of the cheque, and the amount. Banks usually respond quickly to an account holder's request.
Charges
SBI's stop payment charges are around Rs. 100 plus GST per cheque on all accounts. The maximum fee per instance is Rs. 500 plus GST.
