UIDAI: Baal Aadhaar Card of Your Child Will Become Inactive If You Don’t Do This

If your child is an Indian resident (not an NRI), any acceptable Proof of Relationship document such as a Birth Certificate, with parent's or guardian's Aadhaar, can be used for Baal Aadhaar Card enrollment according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Recently UIDAI has informed us with a tweet that parents applying for a Baal Aadhaar Card for their newborn child can use the discharge certificate of hospital as a proof of document which can be called as a substitute to the birth certificate.

But at the same time UIDAI has also made it clear that once their child reaches 5 years of age, they need to follow the biometric authentication process on behalf of their child by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. Regarding the same, UIDAI has recently posted a tweet stating that "BaalAadhaar can only be used up to the age of 5 years. It becomes inactive if the biometrics of the child are not updated at the age of 5 years. You can visit your nearest #AadhaarEnrolment Centre: https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx & update child's biometrics."

By considering the biometric authentication of children, UIDAI as an important update has informed us that "Remember to update the biometrics of your child in #Aadhaar at the age of 5 years and again at the age of 15 years.
