In her speech on Wednesday, the Finance Minister announced the Amrit Dharohar Scheme. She stated that the Amrit Dharohar scheme will be implemented over the next three years in order to encourage the best use of wetlands and increase biodiversity. Sitharaman stated in her Budget speech that India has made significant progress toward many sustainable development goals.

What is the Amrit Dharohar Scheme?
The scheme will promote the optimal use of wetlands in order to conserve them. The scheme will be put in place over the next three years. The scheme will boost eco-tourism and carbon stock while also assisting local communities in income generation.
Objective
To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030. In 2015, India, along with other UN members, adopted these goals. The SDGs aim to bring about peace and prosperity. The Amrit Dharohar scheme will assist India in meeting the SDGs. In 2015, all United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It provides a shared blueprint for people's and the planet's peace and prosperity.
Wetlands are important ecosystems that support biological diversity. In his most recent 'Mann Ki Baat,' the Prime Minister discussed, and she quoted it, that the total number of Ramsar sites has increased to 275, up from 26 in 2014.
Local communities have always been at the forefront of wetlands conservation efforts. The government will promote their unique conservation values through Amrit Dharohar, a three-year scheme to encourage optimal use of wetlands and improve biodiversity, carbon stock, eco-tourism opportunities, and income generation for local communities, she said.
