Everyone at some stage of life must have bought gold or even thought of buying gold either in the form of jewellery or for investment purposes. The reason could be anything gold means money, investing in gold in any form is a good investment. While visiting the jewellery store the jeweller must have given you two options 22k and 24k. The k stands for Karate. Karate is a term used to measure the purity of gold. The higher the karate the higher the genuine gold would be and pure as well. On a scale of 0 to 24, it is rated. Keeping this in mind, 24K gold is the purest form of gold available. The biggest difference between 22k and 24k gold is purity.
The 24k gold
24K gold has a purity of 99.9% and is also known as pure gold because it has no traces of other metals. It is important to understand that there is no higher kind of gold than 24K. When it comes to the price of 24K gold in India, it changes on a daily basis. However, because this is the finest kind of gold, it is more valuable than 22K or 18K gold. It is, nevertheless, suitable for financial purposes but not for typical jewellery because it is too soft for the latter.
The 22k gold
22K gold contains 22 parts of gold and the remaining 2 contains a mixture of other metals such as zinc, copper etc. It is tougher than 24K pure gold due to other metal traces in the composition and is so suitable for making jewellery. 24K gold is the purest form of gold and is not suitable for designing jewellery. This karate of gold is often known as '916 gold,' because it contains 91.67% pure gold.
The gold for investment purposes
If your sole purpose is an investment in gold then the ideal choice would be 24k gold because it is the purest form of gold. 24K gold coin or bar is the most preferred one in this category. However, if the investment is not your sole reason behind the purchase then 24k gold is not the right choice in any way.
The gold for jewellery buying
If you love jewellery and also like to wear them on a regular daily basis the 22k gold is for you. It is most suitable for jewellery designing and manufacturing by the jewellers. The mixture of 2k of other metals in 22k gold makes it suitable for jewellery manufacturing. Jewellery or any ornaments solely for regular use the 22k gold is best buying.
The gold purity chart
The number of karate makes calculating the amount of gold in the gold jewellery you've purchased quite simple. For example, suppose you buy a 14K gold ring. Divide 14 by 24, which equals 0.583, because gold purity is measured on a scale of 0 to 24. This means that your 14K gold ring has a gold content of 58.3%. In simple words, the higher the gold karate the hight it guarantees the purity of gold.
