What To Do If ATM Card Is Stuck In The ATM?
It's hard to find bank customers with an ATM card. ATM cards are now our part of life and plays an important role in the banking system. Back 20 years, it was like that. The situation was different. People had very little idea about the ATM and ATM cards. The lack of knowledge and understandings gave birth to various misconceptions such as it's not safe, or what would I do if the card is stuck in the machine?
Although, many misconceptions are cleared over time there are a few things that still hunts ATM card users. Probably, a number of ATM card users must have experienced a situation where their ATM card was stuck in the ATM. It's obvious to panic in this situation. Hard-earned money and saving matters a lot for everybody doesn't matter whether it's Rs 1000 or Rs 1 lakh.
Why are ATM cards sometimes stuck in the ATM?
It may come to your mind, why do Credit/Debit cards get stuck in ATMs? There could be multiple reasons behind this. These reasons are:
- Delay by the customer in entering details
- Power fluctuations
- Wrong details were entered multiple times
- Technical problems
- Error in connection
- Bad weather
What to do if ATM Card is stuck in the machine?
In this situation first, you need to relax your nerves, and avoid panicking. It might not be an easy task to collect the stuck ATM card from the machine. You need to follow a few things such as:
Cancel the transaction - Press the cancel button on the machine and wait for a few seconds.
Check the transaction - Check to see if your transaction has been cancelled.
Contact Bank - If the card still does not come out, contact your bank right away.
Report the Details - Report the incident with the name of the bank, the time, and the location.
Also important to know
- If you were using an ATM of the same bank as the ATM card, the bank may be able to retrieve the card and give it to you.
- While other banks' ATMs will block your card and provide you with a new one. Most banks offer this service for free. But it is recommended, you should check it with your bank.
