George Soros

George Soros, born György Schwartz in 1930 in Budapest, Hungary, is a highly influential figure in finance and philanthropy. He survived the Nazi occupation of Hungary and later moved to the United Kingdom, where he studied philosophy at the London School of Economics. Soros started his career in merchant banking and went on to establish Soros Fund Management in 1970. He gained notoriety as "The Man Who Broke the Bank of England" during the UK's withdrawal from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism in 1992.
