Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (18/08/2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Fall Rs 740, Silver Price Crashes Rs 2,300

Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to be under pressure on August 18, 2026, as selloffs are witnessed in spot gold and spot silver as investors booked profits. Oil prices are rising again which has brought back inflationary pressure fears.

In the global market, spot gold is down by 0.5% to trade around $4,395 per ounce and spot silver plunged by 1% to hold around $65 per ounce. On the contrary, US WTI crude oil surged 1% to trade above $85 per barrel and Brent crude climbed 0.5% to trade above $91 per barrel.

Among other commodities, the copper price is 1% down. However, natural gas and gasoline prices spiked after big crash yesterday.

Metals also faced pressure from rising oil prices, which kept inflationary risks and interest rate concerns in focus. The moves came as prospects for a new agreement between the US and Iran dimmed after President Donald Trump said he was not interested in extending the interim peace deal. Meanwhile, gold continued to find support from fading expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike following a string of weak US economic data. Markets now expect the Fed to keep policy unchanged in September and are no longer fully pricing in a rate increase by year-end, unlike just a week ago. Bullion also remained supported by stronger investment demand and continued central bank purchases, particularly from China, as per Trading Economics.
