Gold Rates Today (16/08/2026) Unchanged: 24K, 22K, 18K Gold Prices At Tanishq, IBJA, Joyalukkas, Malabar, More

Gold rates today are broadly unchanged in India as it is Sunday. At top jewelers, gold price is above Rs 14,200 in 1 gram under 22 carat, while the rates are above Rs 15,500 and Rs 11,600 in 24 carats and 18 carat. The long-term outlook for gold is bullish. However, in the near term, West Asian conflict, elevated crude oil prices, spike in energy prices and inflationary risks will be monitored for the next course of actions in gold and silver. Market is predicting one-in-three chance of a rate hike in September policy from US Federal Reserve.

In general terms, a rate hike makes dollar attractive and lessens demand for non-yielding assets like gold, while a pause in rates keeps precious metals steady, and a rate cut makes the dollar tepid and gold attractive.

What Is Impacting Gold Prices In India?

Tata Mutual Fund remains bullish on gold over the long term, supported by robust central bank buying, geopolitical uncertainty and sustained demand for portfolio diversification.

It stated that domestic gold has outperformed international gold prices year-to-date, aided by rupee depreciation and higher import duties, even as global gold prices corrected. Official-sector gold purchases reached a record 289 tonnes in Q2 2026, taking first-half purchases to 345 tonnes, underscoring continued structural support for gold.

In case silver, Tata MF stated that silver's long-term outlook remains constructive, with demand from AI hardware, electronics and renewable energy expected to support the metal despite near-term volatility and a persistent global supply deficit.
