Gold rates in India continued to be under pressure. On May 18, 24 carat gold price dropped by up to Rs 7,100, while 10 grams gold struggled to hold Rs 1.56 lakh mark. The dollar has touched a 6-week high, while bond yields gained momentum and the hawkish macro scenario has kept precious metals at the edge.

22 carat gold price fell to Rs 14,345 per 1 gram, while stood at Rs 114,760 per 8 grams, at Rs 143,450 per 10 grams and at Rs 1,434,500 per 100 grams.

Furthermore, 24 carat gold price stood at Rs 15,649 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,56,490 per 10 grams. Additionally, 18 carat gold price is at Rs 11,737 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,17,780 per 10 grams.

IBJA Gold Rates Today

At GRT stores, 1 gram gold is available at Rs 15,633 in 24 carat, at RS 14,320 in 22 carat, at Rs 14,320 in 18 carat and at Rs 11,725 in 18 carat. The 14 carat gold rate stood at Rs 9,119 per 1 gram. Also, 1 gram platinum is priced at Rs 8,078 and 1 gram silver is at Rs 300.

As per Gaurav Garg, research analyst at Lemonn markets desk, gold prices experienced a slight uptick today, trading at approximately ₹1,45,113 per 10 grams ($4725.20/oz), as investors navigated the complex landscape of U.S.-Iran relations while awaiting key inflation data from the U.S. Silver also saw a rise, priced at around ₹2,65,875 per kg ($86.58/oz), reflecting ongoing safe-haven demand amid geopolitical tensions.

Also, crude oil prices climbed to ₹9,451 per barrel ($98.94/bbl), driven by concerns over inflation and the potential for prolonged high interest rates, which have historically impacted precious metals.

Garg added that the recent volatility in gold and silver markets can be attributed to a mix of geopolitical risks and technical trading patterns, with investors balancing these factors against expectations of forthcoming economic data.
