Gold prices remained largely steady in India on Thursday, October 8, giving buyers some relief as the festive shopping season picks up pace. After slipping marginally a day earlier and gaining slightly in the previous session, domestic gold rates showed little movement ahead of the upcoming festive demand period. The 24 Karat (24K) gold price stood at Rs 14,957 per gram, while 22 Karat (22K) gold was available at Rs 13,710 per gram. The rate of 18 Karat gold remained at Rs 11,218 per gram.

With the festive season approaching, gold prices are being closely watched by consumers planning purchases for Dhanteras, Diwali, weddings and other auspicious occasions. Silver prices also remained unchanged on Thursday. The metal was priced at Rs 235 per gram, or Rs 2,35,000 per kilogram, in India.

In the global market, gold prices steadied after falling to a two-month low in the previous session. Investors are assessing the possibility of another US Federal Reserve interest rate hike before the end of the year, making upcoming US rate signals a key factor for bullion prices. A stronger-than-expected rate outlook could keep pressure on gold, while any shift towards a softer policy could revive demand for the precious metal.

The price of 24 Karat gold in Delhi stood at Rs 14,970 per gram on Thursday, October 8. For those buying in larger quantities, 8 grams of 24 Karat gold cost Rs 1,19,760, while 10 grams was priced at Rs 1,49,700. The rate for 100 grams of 24 Karat gold stood at Rs 14,97,000.

22 Karat Gold Rate Today In Delhi

For 22 Karat gold, the Delhi rate was Rs 13,725 per gram. Buyers looking for 8 grams would pay Rs 1,09,800, while 10 grams was priced at Rs 1,37,250. The price of 100 grams of 22 Karat gold stood at Rs 13,72,500.

18 Karat Gold Rate Today In Delhi

The price of 18 Karat gold in Delhi was Rs 11,233 per gram on Thursday. The rate for 8 grams stood at Rs 89,864, while 10 grams cost Rs 1,12,330. For 100 grams, the price of 18 Karat gold was Rs 11,23,300.

Silver prices remained unchanged in the Indian market on Thursday, October 8, as buyers saw no fresh movement in the precious metal ahead of the festive season. The price of silver was Rs 235 per gram, the same as Wednesday.

For buyers looking at smaller quantities, 8 grams of silver cost Rs 1,880, while 10 grams was priced at Rs 2,350. The rate for 100 grams stood at Rs 23,500. At the higher end, 1 kilogram of silver continued to be available for Rs 2,35,000. Overall, silver rates across all major quantities remained unchanged from the previous day's levels.

"The RBI's 25 bps hike to 5.50%, its first since February 2023, is mildly negative for gold in India. The bigger change is the shift to a "calibrated tightening" stance, with rate cuts now off the table. Global factors still decide gold's direction, so the RBI matters mainly through the rupee," said Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., President of IBJA.
